Cycling in The Borders

An area with a growing reputation for great cycling.

Think of the Scottish Borders and think of big spaces: heather-clad hills, hundreds of square miles of forests and woodland, lochs and rivers. Wherever trees and hills abound, cyclists and mountain bikers won‘t be far away; some of the best cycling routes in Scotland can be found here.

There’s a whole variety of routes to choose from for all types and abilities, with its quiet roads and little traffic, the Scottish Borders has many developed waymarked long distance cycle routes and shorter routes from towns that can be explored.  The forests of the Scottish Borders provide some of the best mountain biking in the country.

There are many roads ideal for the both the hobby and keen cyclist surrounding the Collingwood Arms, both to the North and South. We have part of the national cycle network close by at Ford and Etal and again this makes for an enjoyable day out – gently riding alongside the banks of the Till.
